Gentle Healing for Little Ones

Shonishin (Japanese Pediatric Acupuncture): A safe, gentle, and effective way to support your child’s health.

Pediatric acupuncture

We offer specialized care for children, using gentle, effective, needle and needle-free techniques to support wellness and address common childhood concerns. With expertise in providing acupuncture in hospital settings for children with complex and chronic illnesses, as well as in managing less acute pediatric conditions in an outpatient setting, Dr. Ralston-Wilson offers a compassionate, evidence-informed approach tailored to each child’s unique needs.

The initial new patient visit is 90 minutes in length. We are happy to offer the initial consultation via telemedicine to minimize time in the office and facilitate a private and uninterrupted discussion that is mindful of a child's need to move and respectful of topics that your child may be sensitive to having discussed in person. At My Healing Homestead, families will find a nurturing and serene space designed to put even our youngest patients at ease - where healing is supported through gentle, effective treatments in a warm, playful, and peaceful environment.

Pediatric acupuncture appointments are appropriate for children age newborn through the teenage years and may incorporate needle-less modalities such as tuina, shonishin, and/or acupressure or may include acupuncture needles. Eastern nutrition and herbal recommendations may also be made at this time. Follow up visits are 45 minutes in length and consist of a time to check in in-person and your child's treatment.

Full Moon Kids clinic

Full Moon Kids Clinics follow a Japanese tradition of offering gentle, needle-free shonishin treatments to babies and children in order to support overall health and well-being.

Shonishin is a calming and effective technique that helps strengthen immunity, improve sleep, support healthy digestion, and promote emotional balance - making health maintenance both simple and enjoyable! Offered monthly around the full moon, these treatments align with the natural rhythms of the body and the environment, encouraging balance and harmony. Sessions are gentle, brief, yet highly effective, making them ideal for young children.

I hope that these gatherings also foster a sense of community, reflecting on the cultural value of caring for children collectively and nurturing their health together. The Full Moon Kids Clinics are donation-based with the intention of supporting inclusivity, accessibility, and community care that normalizes preventative and natural healthcare as part of a child’s wellness routine.
